10 Deg to 15 Deg
Linares to Samos
A 30 km walk

Got up , looked out to see thick mist and raining heavily.
So ….. Plan b. I would bus to triacastela some 15 km and walk the pretty part.
Good choice, as on way down it was walking by roads and very misty so no views. We were so blessed to go to the top yesterday and have the stunning views.
The first part of the walk was along a river to begin with one side and a fast road the other side in rain .
The second half was like walking in Wales and some parts walking in Devon and the rain stopped.
It was the best walk yet.
I walked past many farms with live stock guarded by a huge Pyrenees type dog.
Arrived in Samos and had the most amazing views of the monastery. It was founded in the 6 th century and included a pilgrim hospital ( hostel) since the 11 th which is still used. It was in control of over 300 other monasteries. It unfortunately fell victim to theft and in 2537 and 1951 ,the abbey was destroyed by fire. Samos was the seat of the Benedictine order in early 19 century and produced 7 bishops.
